It’s that time of year to post our Editor’s pick of the best flat irons. I think what you will find interesting is that some of the flat irons that made our best flat iron for 2009 list are still holding strong today. For example the Sedu Revolution Nano has made the cut for several years now but was outrated in 2010 when CHI came out the winner. “Still The Best 5 Years Later: I purchased this straightener about 5 years ago. I have medium textured curly/frizzy hair which is colored and highlighted. I use the iron almost daily on the second highest setting. Sometimes I use a silicone product and sometimes I don’t. I get my hair trimmed every few months. I have never had a problem with damaged hair with this straightener. I get a fair amount of compliments on my silky-smooth, shiny hair.
My college-aged daughter would always come home and rave about how much better my straightener was than hers. So I bought her one this past Christmas from Folica.

“The Best I’ve Had: I’ve had this flat iron for a year now and it’s definitely lasting longer than I expected! I’ve always had an issue with flat irons and have to replace one every year because it stops working. I’ve had the CHI which was decent and have also had the Remington. The CHI stopped working after two years I had to replace the Remington twice in one year. After the second replacement, I got this flat iron. The plates are smooth along with the edges so there isn’t so much snagging when curling or hair coming out because it got stuck. Also, with my hair, I don’t have to put any products in. I just blow dry it and then straighten it and it comes out straight and shiny but most importantly looks healthy. The only issue I had with this flat iron was that it straightened my natural curl out (but that’s my fault). I have really thick, curly hair and after using the flat iron ALL summer, my curl was gone by August. It’s coming back slowly but surely but I definitely recommend using this flat iron in moderation because it does its job! Besides that, this is the BEST flat iron I’ve ever used. “Awsomeeeee: I have very unruly curly hair and I didn’t even need a comb to straighten it. One swipe and it was done! It came with the argan oil which was amazing as well. Two days later and I don’t want to wash my hair because it’s so silky and smooth and the for the first time in my life, resembles something like those ‘normal’ hair in those commercials! It feels very healthy and although the plates on the sedu were small 1″compared to the 2″ I had previously owned, it worked so much better! I would have never bought it by myself due to how expensive it was, but I am soo glad my friends ended up getting it for me, best gift ever! Came with this over sized clutch which was garbage though (it was huge), but I do recommend the sedu 1″ and the argan oil! Crane clips included were mediocre and can be substituted with what ever clips you were previously using. I never used to straighten my hair because it took so much time and effort and still looked like i had fried or dried out my hair, but I think ill do so more often with my sedu=] I do recommend the tresemme conditioner for curl hydration as well.
