Review of Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Straightening Shampoo and Conditioner

by Sara

I recently made a trip to Target and saw that they had john Frieda’s Frizz-ease Smooth Start Shampoo on sale for $4.99 each. The tubes also offered an additional 30% more for free, so I thought I would try it out since my favorite hair straightening shampoo and conditioner (will do a review later once I pick up some more to show result photos of this product) was nearly out. I also picked up the match John Frieda Straight Fixation Smoothing Cream as well since I always like to test out the same product line instead of mixing and matching. I know some of you do that and that is fine but I always think you give a product line a fair chance when all of the products from the same line are used; afterall it’s how products are created to be the most effective.
John Frieda Smooth Start Shampoo and Conditioner

For starters you should know that I have naturally curly hair. Here is a photo of me in my natural curly hair state.

The Smooth Start shampoo and conditioner both have delightful scents and both are the perfect consistency so that they can be applied into the hair easily. I wash my hair once with the shampoo and I left the conditioner in my hair for about 3-4 minutes in the shower.

After I got out of the shower, I used a towel to dry my hair and then I applied the John Frieda straight fixation smoothing creme on my damp hair. Next I got a boar round brush that is 2″ in diameter and blow dried my hair straightening it with the round brush. I didn’t use a flat iron after-wards because the intention of this review is to show a products effectiveness with just blow drying alone.

Here’s what my hair looked like after being completely blow dried.

It definitely was not as smooth as various other products I have used. In fact there is still quite a bit of frizz so using a flat iron after using these products is necessary. If you are tight on money and not willing to pay $18-25 per bottle of shampoo and conditioner then John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease is not a bad product but I personally don’t plan on buying these products again. In fact, I will probably stash them for emergency back up products.

On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the best I would say this product gets a 3/5.

Not good product you have shown here. There are lots of shampoos that claims that are good at straightening hairs but it won’t. Sad but rare cases are ones that helps and effective at straightening the hair.
